Hi Everyone,

I just moved to Bondi Beach area and I am looking forward to sharing my fishing experiences and learning from yours. I am a avid fisherman and try to go out as much as I can. All forms of fishing interests me and one of the major reasons I decided to move to Australia was to explore the wonderful fishery you have here. So a big hello and hope to chat with you soon.

Cheers

Hi Fishhunter,

I do all sorts of fishing back home. Beach or Surf fishing is one of my favorites. Very similar techniques to fishing here except that it's a whole different array of species. I kept and brought over most of my lures and it seems like they will work equally well here as in Canada. I haven't tried fishing fresh water here yet but I'm very anxious to give it a go. By the way, could you let me know of any fresh water areas close to Sydney that I could go for a fish?

Hi - Guess it depends on what sort of freshwater species you want to target however any upper reach of any estuary system should produce well for Australian Bass in the fresh or brackish. Hawkesburry should produce quite well up a little further north... Probably a little late in the season though. Usually If its anything like down here in the Kiama area September to April is best... However there is a dam down here that is stocked that often fishes well in winter.
